Mesosulfuron-methyl is a selective sulfonylurea herbicide primarily used to control grass weeds such as blackgrass, wild oats and ryegrass, including Italian ryegrass, with secondary activity on some broadleaf weeds, in cereals such as wheat, rye and triticale, where it is applied with the safener mefenpyr-diethyl.
