Formamide is a hygroscopic amide solvent widely used in molecular biology for DNA/RNA denaturation, gel electrophoresis, and protein crystallization due to its ability to stabilize nucleic acids and disrupt hydrogen bonding. Industrially, it serves as a chemical intermediate in organic synthesis, including production of formic esters and hydrocyanic acid, and as a softener for paper and glues. It is also employed in industrial applications like fuel cells and textile processing. This deionized, molecular biology grade formamide (CAS 75-12-7) has a molecular formula of HCONH₂ and a molecular weight of 45.04 g/mol. It is stored at ambient conditions with a signal word of Danger for hazards including suspected carcinogenicity (H351), possible damage to the unborn child (H360D), and organ damage through prolonged or repeated exposure (H373). Molekula supplies Formamide from research to bulk quantities with full documentation and ISO 9001:2015 traceability.
