Formamide is a polar organic solvent and chemical intermediate used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and specialty polymers. It is also used to make formic esters and hydrogen cyanide, and serves as a softener for paper, gums and animal or water-soluble glues. It is a clear, colorless liquid with a characteristic amine odor. CAS: 75-12-7, molecular formula: HCONH₂, molecular weight: 45.04 g/mol. Store at ambient temperatures. Hazard classification: Danger.
