Trimethylamine hydrochloride is the hydrochloride salt of the tertiary amine trimethylamine (trimethylammonium chloride, a tertiary ammonium salt). It is commonly used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals, and in organic chemistry as a source of trimethylamine, for example to prepare quaternary ammonium compounds by alkylating the amine.
