Sorbitan sesquioleate (CAS 8007-43-0), the (2:3) oleate ester of sorbitan, is a non-ionic surfactant derived from sorbitol and oleic acid, widely used as an emulsifier, wetting agent, and dispersant in food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and industrial formulations. It stabilizes oil-in-water and water-in-oil emulsions, improves solubility of hydrophobic actives, and enhances texture in creams, lotions, and processed foods. This chemical has a pale yellow to amber appearance, is soluble in organic solvents but insoluble in water, and requires ambient storage under dry conditions.
