NIAPROOF 4 is sodium 7-ethyl-2-methyl-4-undecyl sulfate, a branched alkyl sulfate formed as the sulfate ester of a branched C14 alcohol. It is an anionic detergent and surfactant used as a wetting and penetrating agent, as a component of selective microbiological culture media and in protein work, and, as sodium tetradecyl sulfate (Sotradecol), as a sclerosing agent. It is a white to off-white powder with a molecular formula of C14H29NaO4S and a molecular weight of 316.43 g/mol. It is stable at ambient storage conditions and classified as dangerous due to its corrosive nature.
