Murexide (C.I. 56085) is an ammonium salt of purpuric acid, widely used as a chemical indicator in complexometric titrations, particularly for calcium analysis (including calcium in the presence of magnesium) and for copper, nickel, cobalt and rare earth metals, as well as in analytical chemistry for pH-sensitive colorimetric applications.
