L-Glutathione oxidised (GSSG) is a naturally occurring disulfide-linked dimer of two glutathione tripeptides, each composed of glutamate, cysteine, and glycine. It is primarily used as a substrate for glutathione reductase, as a component of GSH/GSSG redox buffers for oxidative protein folding, and in research for studying redox balance, oxidative stress and cellular protection.
