Folin & Ciocalteu's phenol reagent is a chemical used in the determination of total phenolic content in samples, commonly employed in antioxidant and phytochemical analysis. It reacts with phenolic compounds to produce a blue color, measurable by spectrophotometry. Supplied as an acidic aqueous solution (typically 2 N) of phosphomolybdate/phosphotungstate complexes with lithium sulfate, it is stable at ambient temperatures. Hazardous: signal word Danger.
