Fast Green FCF (C.I. 42053) is a triarylmethane dye widely used in biological staining, particularly as a protein stain for cytoplasm, collagen in Masson's trichrome and histones (alkaline Fast Green) in microscopy, and as a counterstain in protein gel electrophoresis. It appears green in solution and, as an anionic acid dye, binds to basic (cationic) cellular components such as protein amino groups and histones. Beyond the laboratory, it is also used as a color additive in foods, drugs and cosmetics, where it is known as FD&C Green No. 3. This chemical has a CAS number of 2353-45-9, a molecular formula of C37H34N2Na2O10S3, and a molecular weight of 808.85 g/mol. It is stored at ambient conditions, carries a signal word of "Warning," and is classified as hazardous under GHS regulations. Molekula supplies Fast Green FCF from research to bulk quantities with full documentation and ISO 9001:2015 traceability.
