1-Naphthol is a polycyclic aromatic compound used in the synthesis of dyes, pharmaceuticals, and antioxidants. It is also a key intermediate in making the insecticide carbaryl and azo dye coupling agents, and is used in synthetic perfumes and photographic processing.
