Carbic anhydride is a chemical compound used mainly as a curing agent (hardener) for epoxy resins and as an intermediate in the manufacture of alkyd and polyester resins, plasticizers, polyimides and pesticides. It is a stable crystalline solid (mp about 165 °C), produced commercially by the Diels–Alder reaction of cyclopentadiene and maleic anhydride, and is widely used industrially. CAS Number: 129-64-6.
