Propiolic acid is a highly reactive alkyne carboxylic acid used in organic synthesis, particularly in the formation of heterocycles and as a building block in pharmaceutical and agrochemical research. It also serves as a laboratory reagent for preparing transition metal complexes, haloalkyl propiolates and halopropenoates, and has been used outside the US for nematode control in agriculture.
