Fluoboric acid is a 50% aqueous solution of boron tetrafluoride (BF₄⁻), primarily used in electroplating (e.g., copper and nickel) for improved corrosion resistance and conductivity, as well as in semiconductor manufacturing and as a flux in metal soldering. It is a clear, colorless liquid with a pH of ~1–2 and negligible vapor pressure at ambient temperatures. The product has a CAS number of 16872-11-0, a molecular weight of 86.8052 g/mol, and requires no special storage precautions beyond ambient conditions.
